This man's name is Randy Marino Stevenson. He raised my brothers and i since we were babies. I was about two years old when we met him. We started calling him "Dad" just weeks after we met him and hes been our Dad ever since. My parents sepperated when i was about 12 but he refused to walk away from us and always made an effort to see us as much as possible. He raised us into adulthood and loved us until his last breath! I really needed to see this. It is very difficult for me to conceive and I have been having such a hard time accepting this. I never thought that moments like this can happen to me. I always thought and had a fear of adoption or foster parenting because I’ve had close friends in my life that are adopted that treat their parents like fluent crap I always had many fears that they would hate me or run away and give me a hard time because I’m not their birth mother. It is the people who hold positions as attorneys and judges that decide the fate of men and women. so please don't lecture me about inclusiveness... I literally said that it is a well-intentioned statement. But since you're analyzing arguments, really take into account what I am saying instead of "picking apart someone's words". Try seeing past your own fragility and try and empathize with people who are reminded of their color every day. I don't want people to say to me, I don't see your color. It is a statement in my opinion that marginalizes who I am rather than acknowledge who I am. Acceptance and inclusiveness are two different statements in my opinion. That phrase, the well-intentioned, is a bit of a slap-in-the-face to people who are reminded of their color daily in the criminal justice system, in the educational system, in political systems, in athletics, in the medical community, and the list goes on. No matter how much education I receive the first thing people notice about me is that I am a 6-3 black man. I have to maintain civility to prove that I am not a threat in mainstream culture and this happens more often than you think. First, this is beautiful and I'm 100% in support of it. Love transcends all boundaries. However, as I read through comments, I realize that I hate the phrase "I don't see color." You see, our various shades and demographics create diversity and diversity is beautiful. The only person who says they don't see color, is one who has never been affected by it.  I remember the day we went to the lawyer so you could adopt me. Brown, the lawyer we met, said you couldn't legally BUT you still raised me like your own & I'm forever grateful.
