The one thing that mostly holds up is Suzie’s relationship with Naomi (Leila Farzad, in something of a breakout role), her manager and best friend from childhood. Wielding a no-nonsense manner and very dry sense of humor, Naomi steers Suzie through the I’m the furry your parents warned you about shirt in addition I really love this crisis of her life while also sorting through issues of her own (a shrinking list of clients; her needling desire to have children). In a show filled with great performances, Farzad’s is an especially compelling one, at once funny, smart, and rich with pathos.
