I had a smear test from aged 22 to 70 every 3 years . Not the best days in my life but I did it .please do it ladies put your mind at rest . Dont let Jades message go unheaded. Such an important message. Yes it’s embarrassing, but better to be embarrassed for 10 minutes than to loose your hair, go through gruelling chemo and potentially loose your life  I had them every two years and all negative  now I’ve had a hysterectomy which included the removal of the cervix.. All I need now is a vault smear and then no more.. If I hadn’t have had the hysterectomy I’d have kept having them because to me it’s common sense. Pap Tests are part of our annual gynecological check up here in Germany and every woman from the age of 16 is free to attend. And the majority gets it done. It is always done by the doctor and not by a nurse and combined with a short examination of the breast. Not a big issue... and definitely not as painful as many here say it is. Either German women can stand more pain or nurses in the Uk just do it wrong. If you can give birth to a child you will never have a problem with the "pain" you experience here.
